South West Speakers

Hello, and a very warm welcome to South West Speakers’ website! Whether you are an experienced public speaker or you are are new to public speaking I hope you will find what you are looking for on our website. (If not please feel free to let us know by emailing info@southwestspeakers.org.uk.)

South West Speakers is one of the 11,700 regional branches of Toastmasters International, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people learn public speaking and leadership skills. Toastmasters International has speaking clubs in 92 countries, and South West Speakers is the only club serving the Devon and Cornwall counties of England (but not for long – click here to read about a new club starting in Plymouth very soon). We are an extremely friendly and supportive group of people of all ages and backgrounds, with the common aims of learning and improving public speaking skills and – for the more experienced members – helping others to do so. We meet at the Ten Tors Inn in Kingsteignton near Newton Abbot every 2^nd and 4^th Wednesday of each month, although we do take a break over Christmas so see our diary here to check the details of our next meeting.

Public Speaking, Newton Abbot, Devon Visitors are very welcome to our meetings, although we do make a modest charge of Ł2 to help cover our room hire costs. If you are new to the world of public speaking and want to come along to find out more you can be assured of the very warmest welcome, as all members understand that one of the hardest parts about shaking off those public speaking fears is making the decision to attend a meeting like ours to find out what it’s all about (yep – we’ve most of us been there!).
